Gary Hume
Parker commissioned Artist Gary Hume to create a recycled metal sculpture that is one of the main focal points of the exterior landscaping at the Sunset Point Project. Gary is a metal artist who is best know for his armillary type sculptures. He attributes his career as an antique dealer, boilermaker, and construction worker as being instrumental in learning the skills that he now utilizes to create works of art out of metal. For example, paying attention to how things are constructed, small details, and finishes are all part of the equation that not only make his pieces, but also give them the wow factor that he is well-know for. Gary creates his artwork in a private machine shop where he uses 19th century parts and pieces that include wagon wheel parts, grind stones and gears.
