The Full Conversation - Season 5

Articles and extended interviews with friends and partners of
Home, Life & Style

In this extended Home, Life & Style segment, Host Parker Kelley visits Dane Austin's private home in Dorchester, Massachusetts. The area of Dorchester where his house is located was historically known as Doctor’s Row, as many of the homes belonged to physicians when they were built. Dane loves \the access to the hub of Boston but also enjoys the many opportunities to commune with nature and its extraordinary beauty, vitality, and diversity.

Dane Austin is the founder and principal designer at the eponymous Dane Austin Design or DAD. DAD is a full-service interior design firm headquartered on the famous Newbury Street in Boston, Massachusetts, since 2012.

Dane specializes in luxury residential interiors throughout North America. He is not only a talented and celebrated interior designer but also an artist and nature lover. Much of his home is inspired by nature with a nod to the 30s, 40s, and 50s design. This is the extended cut that we call the Full Conversation. It is a wonderfully uncut version of Dane's home tour with Host Parker Kelley. You’ll love this tour if you love classic or modern design. Dane is a master at blending the two styles in total harmony.

Dane renovated this home and has been living here for about five years. He describes the décor as being about ease of use with a lovingly selected collection of exciting and beautiful objects. His home is rooted in tradition with a contemporary edge.

Examples of his love for nature can also be seen throughout the home. This historic home, which is in the Gambrel shingle style, is 3000 square feet and has 6 beautifully renovated bedrooms and several luxurious bathrooms. The exquisite home is designed with warm jewel tones. The original fireplace is faced with gorgeous emerald green tile.

Each bedroom is named after colors such as gold filled with incredible fabrics and wallpapers. The dining room has a lovely round wood table with chairs and an upholstered bench with a high back. The stunning kitchen has floor-to-ceiling subway tile, classic lighting, and a center island with lots of storage and character. The ceiling treatments in some of the rooms are magnificent and eye-catching. This is a must-see home tour for anyone interested in interior design, renovation, art, and decor.
